“The Leesa Sapira Chill has outstanding cooling performance. During our tests, I felt no significant level of heat retention around my body. The mattress is equipped with a phase change cooling cover that creates a “cool to the touch” feel. This cooling feel helps to create a more consistently cool and comfortable top layer, despite the use of a 5.25” all-foam comfort layer.”
Heat Dissipation

Heat dissipation over time
“From minutes 0 to 5 that decline was 9.0°, which is 2.04° cooler than average. When we consider the complete picture of objective data, subjective experience, and material analysis, I’m confident most sleepers will find the cooling to be exceptionally good.”
Independent lab testing by Naplab
"I’m a side sleeper but have shoulder and hip pain from various sports injuries over the years. Got the soft version of the Sapira Chill and it’s made an immediate difference. I usually wake up multiple times a night because I’m too hot or because I need to flip sides owing to the shoulder/hip aches, but literally first night on this mattress I slept comfortably almost all night."

What is a hybrid mattress?
The Sapira Chill is Leesa's premium cooling hybrid. Its coil system is zoned to concentrate support under your hips while allowing softer comfort at your shoulders — which means your spine stays aligned regardless of whether you sleep on your back, side, or a combination of both. The springs also create airflow channels through the mattress that solid foam cannot replicate, which is one of the reasons hybrid mattresses tend to sleep cooler than all-foam designs.
Hybrids are a particularly good fit for: side sleepers who need pressure relief at the shoulder and hip; couples with different sleep preferences, since the coils absorb and isolate motion; and anyone who has found all-foam mattresses to trap heat or feel too soft over time.
What cooling features does this mattress have?
The Ultra Cool Cover uses advanced cooling fibers that draw heat away from your skin on contact, so the mattress feels cool to the touch when you first lie down and throughout the night. This is a passive cooling system — it works continuously without electricity or special settings.
Beneath the cover, the zoned spring system plays an active role in temperature regulation. Unlike solid foam, which traps body heat in the material around you, springs create open air channels through the mattress core. Heat that builds up as you sleep has somewhere to go. Combined with the cooling cover above, this two-layer approach addresses both surface temperature and the deeper heat buildup that wakes most hot sleepers during the night.
The mattress is available in three comfort levels — plush, medium-firm, and firm — so you can choose the feel that suits you without compromising on cooling performance.
Are Leesa mattresses fiberglass free?
Our mattresses contain no fiberglass. They are crafted in our fiberglass-free factory using fire-retardant yarn with a rayon barrier. This chemical-free rayon fiber, derived from 100% regenerated cellulose, creates a protective layer that ensures both safety and comfort.
Are Leesa mattresses made from safe materials?
Yes! Leesa mattresses are designed with your health and safety in mind, adhering to stringent safety standards that ensure a healthier sleep environment. Additionally, we don’t use fiberglass in our mattresses, and our entire factory is fiberglass-free.
Every Leesa mattress is GREENGUARD goldopens in new window certified after undergoing rigorous testing for emissions of more than 360 volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This certification assures that our mattresses are free from harmful chemicals and meet strict emissions safety standards, resulting in minimal VOC emissions.
The foams used in Leesa mattresses are also CertiPUR-US®opens in new window certified, meaning they are made without ozone depleters, PBDE flame retardants, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and certain phthalates. They also have low VOC emissions, ensuring better indoor air quality.
How is this mattress different from the Sapira mattress?
Both the Sapira and the Sapira Chill are hybrid mattresses. What makes the Sapira Chill special is its cooling cover and zoned support springs.
The quilt top cover is infused with phase-change fibers that pull heat away from your body, keeping you at the ideal temperature for deep restful sleep. And the zoned springs provide extra support for your hips and spine to relieve those high-pressure areas.
The Sapira Chill also comes in three distinct comfort levels so you can personalize your sleep experience.
What is GreenFlex Foam?
GreenFlex Foam is Leesa’s biobased mattress foam, made with renewable, plant-based materials and certified as a USDA Certified Biobased Productopens in new window with third-party-verified renewable content.
• Plant-based inputs: Natural polyols derived from non-food crops grown on marginal land
• No chemical conversion: The plant oil is a natural polyol, usable as-is—unlike typical bio-foams
• Third-party verified: Renewable content certified under the USDA BioPreferred® Programopens in new window
• Reduced petroleum reliance: Replaces a portion of the petroleum-based inputs used in traditional mattress foam
• Built for performance: Designed to deliver the responsive comfort, pressure relief, and durability expected from a Leesa mattress
How is GreenFlex Foam different from other plant-based foams?
Most bio-foams start with food-crop oils that must be chemically converted into polyols—an energy-intensive process that uses only a fraction of the plant’s oil. GreenFlex Foam uses non-food crops grown on marginal land whose oil is a natural polyol, usable with no chemical conversion—putting roughly three times more of the plant’s oil to use. Its renewable content is independently verified through the USDA BioPreferred® Programopens in new window.
How does GreenFlex Foam feel?
GreenFlex Foam has the same responsive, contouring feel as Leesa’s original foam. The open-cell, plant-derived structure makes it slightly more breathable than conventional memory foam, which helps regulate temperature across the night.
Why did Leesa create GreenFlex?
Leesa developed GreenFlex Foam in-house as part of its ongoing commitment to more thoughtful materials and better sleep innovation.
The goal was to create a biobased mattress foam that combines renewable materials with the breathable comfort, responsive support, and durability Leesa is known for.
GreenFlex BioFoam reflects Leesa’s focus on improving mattress materials without sacrificing sleep performance.
*The 26% biobased content of GreenFlex® BioFoam has been verified through third-party testing under the USDA BioPreferred® Programopens in new window, ensuring compliance with rigorous standards for renewable material content.
